Creeping quietly out of your memories
While you snore pleasant dreams to each pillow
Leaving you only the indentation of our embrace
Hoping it is enough for my memory to linger
With you into each wintry day of decline
I never chose to leave you so abruptly
Time tore my hopes right out of my bleating heart
And left you here with merely the echoes of my now fading voice
Nevertheless I return every so often in your snow white sleep
To lie even commingle with your memories or dreams
To extend what we shared to beyond
What it now seems. Before morning awakes you
To your daily routines, I try hard not to escape you
But with little success only able to kiss or caress
What I know you will never truly feel
Unless you are awake by sunrise
And I am able to turn that crimson back to teal
