dark and divided
a distorted moon looms large above while the birds - the tiny birds -
go on. One alone.

the mountains are like black waves beneath
it's hard to say this is ground
if it is it'll be a hard time getting home through here

the light barely makes it into these hills
the birds remain black

the moon is
sliced like a bone
concentric circles like the cottonwood tree
pulled down by the gravity of the black earth

the energy underneath so powerful now
there can be no denial.

Yet you will try.

I like this. I don't know why but I can imagine Munch's "The Scream" dissolving into this. Brilliant : )
