There was a debate regarding barrel length and if it in fact increases the rate of fire. This photo more...is a screen capture showing the audio wave patterns of both barrels sound signatures side by side. Both are being shot from a Mac10 submachine gun in 45 ACP. The top barrel is the 12" and the bottom is the 6". You can see the longer barrel was slightly quicker.
Both guns shot a 30 round magazine in full auto mode less
