"A Pup Named Scooby Doo" is the eight incarnation of Hanna-Barbara's long-running "Scooby Doo" series. more... This incarnation of the series had a noticeably wackier tone than the shows' previous incarnations. It was not uncommon for the characters to do wild Tex Avery/Bob Clampett-esque takes when they ran into ghosts and monsters. The ghosts and monsters themselves were also more comedic, such as a creature made out of molten cheese, and the ghost of a dogcatcher.
